INFINITI Q50 vs Audi A4

Both the INFINITI Q50 and the Audi A4 should both appeal to anyone who wants a top-shelf luxury. . If you're considering upgrading to a new premium sedan, both offer admirable performance, respectable luxury, and the latest technology. They both offer distinctive style, and high build quality. That said, they are anything but equals. Let's take a closer look to see how they really compare.

Powertrains and Performance:

These two vehicles use dramatically different powertrains. The Audi A4 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder that makes 220 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. That's the only option in the A4, and it's rated at 32 mpg highway and 24 mpg city, based on EPA estimates. Those might be impressive numbers, but the INFINITI Q50 can beat all of them. The standard Q50 comes with 3.7L V6 that makes 328 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. This model is rated at 30 mpg highway and 20 mpg city, admittedly a bit lower than the A4. If you want both more power and more efficiency then take a look at the Q50 Hybrid, which combines a 3.5L V6 with an electric motor for a total of 360 hp and 29 mpg city/36 mpg highway based on EPA estimates. The INFINITI clearly makes more power and offers more miles per gallon than the A4.

Features and Options:
Both of these premium vehicles might offer most of the features that you want in a luxury car. With the INFINITI Q50 you get access to upscale features like LED fog lights and head lights, HD radio, voice activated controls, push button start, Intelligent key ignition andoors, and tire-specific pressure monitoring. You won't find any of those features in the base Audi A4.
Plus, the Q50 offers more cargo volume in the trunk, along with more front legroom, front and rear hiproom, front head room, and front and rear shoulder room. You can see that the Q50 is both better equipped and offers more cabin space for your comfort.
The INFINITI Q50 also gives you more space. It offers more trunk space than the Audi A4, and more front legroom, hip room, headroom and shoulder room, and more rear hip room, and shoulder room. You and your passengers will be glad for all that extra space-especially on long drives!

Safety:
Features, power and performance are very important aspects, but if a car isn't safe, it's not worth purchasing! The Q50 has an overall 5-star rating in the NHTSA crash test, a 5-star rating in the NHTSA rollover test, it's an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ (the A4 was not chosen as even a Top Safety Pick) and received the highest rating of "Good" in the IIHS Frontal Moderate Overlap Test, Side: Overall Rating, Rear: Overall Rating, and Rollover: Overall Rating. When buying the INFINITI Q50, you're also buying piece of mind knowing that you and your loved ones will be safe.

Key INFINITI Q50 Advantages
  • Available Direct Adaptive Steering? - Q50's electronic steering system transmits the driver's intentions electronically and directs steering response via electric actuators. The system allows independent control of tire angle and steering inputs, transmitting the driver's steering intentions to the wheels faster than a mechanical system. It also limits unwanted feedback through the steering wheel, such as from hitting ruts or other irregularities in the road surface. Drivers can customize both steering effort and response to their own preferences. Audi A4 offers only a conventional steering system.
  • Available Around View® Monitor - Q50's Around View Monitor uses cameras mounted in the grille, outside mirrors, and rear license plate finisher to help enhance visibility when parking. This feature is not available on Audi A4.
  • Available Predictive Forward Collision Warning1- Q50's Predictive Forward Collision Warning system helps alert the driver to a potential collision with a vehicle traveling in front of the vehicle immediately ahead and alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings. Audi A4 does not offer this safety feature.
  • Available Forward Emergency Braking- When Q50's Forward Emergency Braking system judges there is a risk of forward collision, it will warn the driver and can automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a collision or mitigate the effects of an impact. This safety feature is not offered on Audi A4.
  • Available Backup Collision Intervention - Q50's Backup Collision Intervention helps the driver detect other vehicles approaching from either side and large objects directly behind the vehicle when backing up. It provides visual and audible warnings if another vehicle is detected. It also provides feedback through the throttle pedal and can apply brake pressure to help avoid a collision. Audi A4 does not offer this feature.
